Well I’m extremely sick right now with the flu. Chills, fever, body aches, runny nose, congestion, the works.
So I can’t take clients, I can’t host workshops, I can barely walk my dog. But I still have to be productive! At least while I’m awake. So here are my thoughts on some stuff you can do!
Before we start by the way, I highly recommended TheraFlu. I used to swear by Mucinex, but it only has half the active ingredients.
So what can you do to stay productive while you’re either bed-ridden in on quarantine in your home? You’re pretty dang limited, but you can still get some stuff done.
However, if a doctor recommends no work and no stress, just stop reading and watch a movie. I recommend Harry Potter.
1) When I popped open the app on my phone to write my blog today, I was just going to write, “Sorry all! No blogs for 1-2 weeks while I recover.” But then I thought better of it. So why not blog? Your virus can’t infect your phone, tablet, or computer, so you can write to your hearts content!
2) Do some digital art. If you’re a photographer, edit some images! Don’t lie to me and say that you DON’T have a folder of .CR2’s laying around some dusty hard drive that you shot for fun and just haven’t edited.
If you draw, bust out that paper and pencil! Or Wacom and stylus! Make something neat! Anything that pops into your mind, just let it flow!
3) Learn something. Check out some tutorials online, figure out a technique you’ve been missing, study up for your PPA exam, as long as you’re expanding your mind, it’s worth it.
4) Take breaks. More than usual. As artists, we can be drawn into our work for hours on end. We can forget to eat, drink, or even sleep, which are all very crucial to getting better. But if you’re like me, you’ll get stressed if you DON’T work for a few days, so it can be a bit of a double-edged sword if you aren’t careful!
And get well soon!
